Maine Recovery Collective (“MRC”) is committed to protecting your privacy and the confidentiality of your health information in accordance with HIPAA, HITECH, 42 CFR Part 2, and MaineCare requirements.

Protected Health Information

Your medical, behavioral health, and substance use disorder treatment information is confidential. We do not disclose identifying information about your participation in our programs except as permitted or required by law.

How We Use Information

We may use or share information only as necessary to:

  • Provide and coordinate treatment

  • Bill and receive payment (including MaineCare)

  • Operate and improve our programs

  • Communicate about appointments or services

  • Comply with federal and state law

  • Protect health and safety in emergencies

All disclosures are limited to the minimum necessary and may occur verbally, in writing, or electronically using secure systems.

Mobile Phone & Text Messaging

If you provide your mobile phone number, Maine Recovery Collective may use it to contact you by call or text regarding scheduling, admissions communication, program-related updates, and information you request. Mobile information (including phone numbers and SMS consent) will not be shared, sold, rented, or disclosed to third parties for marketing or promotional purposes. We may share information only with service providers who help us deliver communications (such as our phone/SMS platform provider) and only as necessary to provide the service.

Substance Use Disorder Records

Records related to substance use disorder treatment receive additional protections under federal law (42 CFR Part 2) and are not disclosed without your written consent, a court order, or as otherwise permitted by law.

You have the right to:

  • Access and request copies of your records

  • Request corrections

  • Request limits on certain disclosures

  • Request confidential communication methods
