Frequently asked questions
What should I bring to treatment?
We recommend bringing comfortable, modest clothing, toiletries, any prescribed medications (in original bottles), a journal, and recovery-related materials. Please avoid bringing valuables, excessive cash, or items that may disrupt a structured recovery environment. A detailed packing list can be provided upon request.
How long is the program?
Our program is structured around the 12 Steps of recovery and varies by individual progress. While the length of stay depends on your personal treatment goals and clinical recommendations, our program requires a 3 - 6 month commitment to ensure a solid foundation is built for long-term sobriety.
Am I allowed to work?
Work is allowed under certain conditions. We ask residents to refrain from working during the first 30 days unless previously employed. After that, part-time work (up to 20 hours/week) may be permitted and increased after 90 days, depending on your recovery progress and at staff discretion. Each situation is reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
Can my family visit while I am in treatment?
Yes, family visits are allowed but must be approved by staff beforehand. We recognize that addiction affects the entire family, and in many cases, loved ones will be incorporated into the recovery process to help support long-term healing. Specific visiting times and guidelines will be discussed with you upon admission.
Are pets allowed?
In rare cases pets may be permitted at the discretion of the Executive Director. If you would like to bring a pet, please discuss it with the admissions team.
Do you take insurance?
Yes, we accept MaineCare. Please contact our admissions team for verification of your benefits and to discuss financial options. If you are uninsured Maine Recovery Collective will create a personalized payment plan based on your individual needs. We aim to make treatment as accessible as possible.
How do I apply?
You can begin the application process by contacting our admissions team directly by phone or email. We’ll guide you through a pre-screening, answer any questions, and help you determine if our program is the right fit for your needs.
Am I allowed to smoke?
Yes, smoking and vaping are allowed in designated smoking areas only. We ask all residents to follow these guidelines to maintain a respectful and healthy environment for everyone.
